“2012” FREE DOWNLOAD and 8” Clear Pyramid Shaped Handmade Record SEPT 21, 2012
This Frontier Needs Heroes is the Alt-Folk duo Brad and Jessica Lauretti from Brooklyn, NY. Their name is inspired by the phrase scrawled on Woody Guthrie’s guitar during WWII: "This Machine Kills Fascists.” Listening to This Frontier Needs Heroes is like having Brad and Jessica play in your backyard while the sun comes up. With their powerful delivery and delicate harmonies, their music is full of lyrical stories of love and longing for a better world. “Brother-sister duo This Frontier Need Heroes write songs about real life, and they hit you in the heart, where it matters. Brad and Jessica Lauretti have been trying their part to help and improve the world through their music. Yes, purpose-driven, meaningful songwriting still exists.” -Lost at E Minor The new single, “2012”, will be released on September 21, 2012. 3 months before the end of the Mayan Calendar December 21, 2012 on People in A Position to Know. With its new upbeat full sound, it was highlighted as a must-hear new release on WNYC’s Soundcheck. “2012” is like a Ricky Nelson song for the end times. One lyric says "Grab yourself the best d@#n girl you can!" Which is good advice, even if the world isn't going to end! After years of touring, including a few epic North American tours and three trips to Europe, they recorded “2012” after songwriter Brad Lauretti’s month-long sabbatical in San Francisco. Their last album “The Future”, was released on their own label Heroic Endeavours Records. It has other pertinent pre-apocalyptic songs like Space Baby, Key West, and Calamity Jane, about all of their rambling experiences including new visions about the future of America, heroes and myths, and even Gonzo Journalism. It also includes awesome 3D album cover art and glasses. Basically everything you need to survive the post-apocalyptic world! “Their music ranges from simply arranged, heartbreaking ballads to raucous foot-tappers, complete with rambling electric guitar solos and handclaps... both call to mind vast and often desolate American landscapes.” - ALL SONGS CONSIDERED People In A Position To Know Limited Edition Vinyl and Handmade Musical Artifacts is a micro-indie label based in Olympia, WA, who has released almost 100 records since 1995. The majority of PIAPTK's releases are handmade in some, if not all, aspects. While they use pressing plants for most larger run records, they cut many of their own short-run records on 1940's Presto 6N record lathes. They have made records out of plexiglass, laserdiscs, picnic plates, cd-rs, mirrors, placemats, x-rays, and even 90% cacao chocolate. They silkscreen or letter-press much of the artwork for these unique releases on repurposed paper and other materials. “2012” will be released in Clear Polycarbonate plastic 8” pyramid shaped vinyl. “2012” is available for FREE DOWNLOAD HERE: http://thisfrontierneedsheroes.bandcamp.com/album/2012 http://thisfrontierneedsheroes.com http://piaptk.limitedrun.com/ http://soundcloud.com/piaptkshop/this-frontier-needs-heroes
